Bazaar: Distributed Version Control Software
CVS, Subversion, and, now,...
...which declares itself to be a distributed version control software. This multi-platform (Linux, Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows) Open Source product comes from Canonical (the group that develops and distributes Ubuntu Linux). The attribute that interests me most is that it does not need a dedicated server piece. I assume by dedicated they really mean that special web server modules (such as mod_svn and mod_dav_svn for Subversion) are required. It appears work with any web server that accessed via FTP. I don't know if it supports the more secure SFTP or SCP. It is Python-based. So, you need to have the Python interpreter running to use it. However, it looks like their installation modules makes that painless for Windows users. A Leopard (Mac OS X 10.5) DMG package is available for Mac users.
