VirtualBox 2.2.0 Flaky on Both Windows PC and Mac

VirtualBox 2.2.0 looks like a disaster so far. I installed/upgraded it on both my Mac and Windows Vista PC. Couple of items I've noted so far...

- Bridged Ethernet support works in VirtualBox 2.2.0 under Mac OS X 10.5 but not Windows Vista. NAT works in Vista, so network connectivity is available.
- Both Fedora 9 (on a PC) and Ubuntu 8.10 (on a Mac) became unstable after going through VirtualBox's container migration process.
- VirtualBox lost the network configuration for the Windows 2000 Guest OS on the Mac. Simple fix. But, annoying to discover after booting 2000 and then needing to shut it down to find the problem

Back to VMware Fusion on my Mac. And, I need to go find my copy of VMware Workstation for Windows. Leaving VirtualBox alone until the next major update.

Bridged networking on vista

Bridged networking on vista host / XP guest would not work initially for me, NAT worked fine, however I need bridged support. I installed 2.2.0 over 2.1.4, maybe I should have uninstalled 2.1.4 first because it all started working when I reinstalled, used the repair option, and then restarted the host. Bridged ethernet now works fine. VirtualBox has been rock solid ever since.

Mike: thanks for the tip! I

Mike: thanks for the tip! I reinstalled VirtualBox 2.2.0 using the Repair option. Bridged networking now works with the Fedora 9 virtual machine that was previously limited to using the NAT networking option. Many thanks. I need to use bridged networking too.
